Artifact #1- Elements of Design
Descriptors: The Principals and Elements of Design
Title: The Elements Of Design
Course: TATC 100 - Foundations
Date Created: August, 2002
Source: I used my own knowledge of the elements of Design to
create the presentation.
Media: I used Swish and Adobe
Photoshop 6 to complete this presentation.
Description: This is a Flash file or SWF that details the
Elements of design. It provides examples and it is based on an interactive
format.
Rationale: I used various input devices to create this
presentation as well as my knowledge of basic animation. I had to utilize
the Principals of design to create a layout that was pleasing to the eye.
The main topic was the elements of design and I created examples of each.
Implications for future: I have already used this demonstration
once in my class and I will be posting it on the web via this site. I hope
that others could use it and therefore it could become an interactive tool.
Reviewers Comments
What an awesome way to show the elements of design. I like the Flash and
think that it really reaches a leaner with its movement and its
information. This type of "lecture" is what the students enjoy.
Good job.

#10 - Collage
Descriptors: Combining images, layers, feathering, and fonts
Title: Personal Collage
Course: Foundations
Date Created: September 2002
Source: www.bombs.com,
www.google.com/images/horses
Media: Adobe Photoshop
Description: The assignment was to create a collage by combining
images to illustrate our personality and our perceptions of our lives. I
created this collage to cover the way I was feeling at the time and show
what some of my interests are. I liked the bombs, because I felt that my
life just explodes sometimes. I of course added the horse pictures and a
picture of one of my classes.
Rationale: I used the feather selection areas command to make
soft edges around most of my images. I utilized many layers and then
flattened my image to get a final effect. I utilized a circuit board
background to give the image a technological feel.
Implications for future: I modified
this into a lesson for my students and they really enjoyed it. They loved
getting pictures off the internet and then combining them into a collage.
Reviewers Comments: I really liked the collage. I think that it showed ordered ciaos in
may ways, but the bombs were pretty amusing. I think some of your students would have
found it funny and they probably would not have guessed that about you.
