Title: Business Card
Course: Desktop Publishing TATC
Date Created: January 20, 2003
Source: Observation of business cards.
Media: Adobe Photoshop 7 was used for the creation of the logo,
Microsoft Publisher was used for basic layout of the card, and Adobe Go
Live was used for the web page layout.
Description: This lesson was created to show very basic Desktop
Publishing techniques. A business card, by nature, has to be simple and to
the point in order to create a design that does not interfere with the
purpose. The purpose of a business card is to provide contact information
for an individual and the company that they are associated with. This
project caused me to redesign my own business card in a way that is more
visually appealing. I wanted the overall affect of the card to be serene
and peaceful with a slightly exotic flair. I used color theory for my
choice of color and proximity to create a unique design that accomplishes
my goals.
Rationale: I selected this example of desktop publishing because
I believe it illustrates my growth as a designer. I feel it is a good
example of simple, yet elegant design. It includes all the basics of
Desktop Publishing and basic business card design.
Implications for future: I have used this lesson in my class as
part of my business project. I have the students create their own business,
and then they create a logo and supporting documents. The business card is
one of the first projects, because it is a simple introduction to Microsoft
Publisher.
Reviewers Comments: Very nice Ally. I think you were successful
in your attempt to create serenity and calmness in your card as well as
your page background. Very well pulled together.

Title: Observer Adds
Course: None
Date Created: August 2002
Source: All created by Ally Muntean
Media: Adobe Photoshop and Adobe
Illustrator
Description: These were ads specifically created for a client
according to their advertising strategy.
Rationale: The client was a recording studio and record label
that wanted to be perceived as a fun place to be. They wanted to use the
reoccurring themes of the pineapple and the CD in their campaign.
Implications for future: This could be used to demonstrate to students
the type of professional work that clients sometimes need and that
reoccurring themes can be important to clients.
Reviewers Comments: These ads are just what we are looking for.
The design is clean and it reflects our needs as a company. We like the use
of overlapping images and themes.
