Studio Version 8, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Go Live, Flash MX
Description: I created the site to act as a promotional site for
Nora Jones, a jazz singer from the DFW area. The overall look of the site
was intended to be dramatic.
Rationale: I created the video for
her song "Lonestar." I felt the song conveyed the beauty of Texas
and so I wanted to use scenes from two of my favorite places in Texas (Big
Bend National Park and Lake Worth) I used the water and birds an the
uniting elements of the video. I used mostly landscapes, but I did appear
in my video as well. I wanted to use a shot from behind to not reveal my
own face and give the viewer a sense that it could be anyone and that they
could imagine themselves in my place
Implications for future: I thought this was a wonderful project
and I learned a great deal about the subject of my favorite artist as well
as about myself. I used a modified version of this assignment in my
classroom and it was a huge success.
Reviewers Comments:
“ I love the Big Bend to Lakeside
concept. I really understood what
you were trying to do and I liked how you used Norah to do it. I really liked the animation on the Photo
section.” I think Norah would
be proud”

Title: Nahla Meets the World
Course: None
Date Created: May 5, 2003
Source: The video footage taken in Lakeside
Texas, and the music is from
POD.
Media: 8 MM video Camera and
Pinnacle Studio Version 8
Description: My horse, Squeetie recently had a filly and I wanted
to create a video to show off the new baby and showcase how a horse
experiences the world for the first time. She was only a few weeks old when
the footage was taken so she really was still adapting to the world. It was basically created for the cuteness
factor and to send out to all my friends and family, so the small file size
was important.
Rationale: I wanted music that was
calm and mellow that only acted as an accent to the video. I used different
shot angles and positions to gain a different perspective on my subject. I
wanted to divide the video into individual experiences of the horse: with
other animals, other people, and her environment. I used captions to
accomplish this and I was quite pleased with the results.
Implications for future: I showed this video to my class to
illustrate putting together a compilation of images that relate to
experience and I sent it out to my friends and family.
Reviewers Comments: I really enjoyed the video. It wasn't just a
bunch of random images put together and it had a purpose and a story. The
new baby really is cute.
